Stéphane Guerlain is a French lawyer. He is the son of Jean-Paul Guerlain and his first wife, Monique de Barral de Montauvrard.
Stéphane Guerlain studied at the Institute of Criminology in Paris. He holds a DEA in literary, artistic and industrial property from the University of Paris II. He began his career as a lawyer in 1987. He is recognized as one of the leaders in France in the specialization of intellectual property, a subject on which he also gives lectures. Its activity is mainly directed towards litigation concerning trademarks, designs and models, copyright, patents and unfair competition. Stéphane Guerlain is president of AAPI, former vice-president of APRAM and member of the board of directors of ECTA.
On the private side, Stéphane Guerlain opposed in 2007 the marriage of his father with the Franco-Danish Christina Kragh Michelsen. The reinforced guardianship of his father in 2013, and held his guardianship since 2018. The health of the perfumer declines while he suffers from Alzheimer’s disease. From 2010, Christina Kragh Michelsen engaged in a legal battle to obtain the right to marry her companion. She made several requests for a change of guardian, without success. In November 2021, Christina Kragh Michelsen filed a complaint against Stéphane Guerlain for harassment, death threats and attempted murder. In 2021, the fortune of the Guerlain family is estimated at 3.3 billion euros.
