PARIS, June 15, 2022 /PRNewswire/ — Nothing will ever replace the unique experience of admiring a work in person in a museum, but that does not take away from what a reproduction in a book or even on the internet can bring. It also happens that museums have to close their doors for several days or even several months. And then there are all those works that don’t really belong there yet. The Metavers will now offer all kinds of alternatives to show the Art from all angles.

thierry Ehrmann, President and Founder of Artmarket.com and its Artprice department: “
The Metavers will give birth to the best as well as to the most nebulous. Already there are many bribes, which present the countless possible applications: while some metaverses function as extensions of our very real world, others invent new universes governed by their own rules. The whims of Facebook (Meta) or Sandbox currently dominate the debates, but many other forms of Metavers are being built here and there, particularly in the world of Art and around Artprice.
Diving into the digital age
Virtual tours have now established themselves in the art world over the past ten years. Today many museums, fairs and auction houses offer to stroll through their exhibition spaces on a smartphone, tablet or computer.
This alternative allows amateurs and professionals alike to access works and benefit from enriched content. This is a complementary way of experiencing or reliving an exposure that meets a growing need for flexibility, the importance of which is measured with NFTs. The platforms that allow the exchange of these digital certificates are indeed accessible day and night from anywhere on earth, provided only that there is an internet connection.
While digital tours were originally created as photomontages, new technologies now use 3D design software and Artificial Intelligence. The solutions developed by the Universal Art Museum, Genesis Penthouse and Spatial, among others, make it possible to “hang” an entire collection of works of art in a digital space, with almost infinite scenographic freedom.
Welcome to the “other side”
If these ideas remain vague for the general public, many of the most important projects in the NFT sphere promise the imminent arrival of their Metavers. This is already the case for Yuga Labs with the launch of “Otherdeed for Otherside”.
At the pinnacle of BAYC (Bored Ape Yacht Club) fame and strong in its prestigious community, Yuga Labs organized the first sale of land in its Metaverse baptized
. The immense enthusiasm for the BAYC project and a very attractive mint price (305 $APE ~ 6,000 $) pushed the Ethereum Blockchain beyond its limits of use: gas prices (ie. ., Blockchain fees) soared and many participants were unable to acquire a plot despite having paid significant fees. The designers have fortunately undertaken to compensate the injured users.
The floor price for a piece of land currently stands at 2.55 ETH (~$2,500) while the last Ape sold at public auction reached $3.4m.
Contemporary artist Takashi Murakami has for his part announced that he wants to build a metaverse that would be like the sum of all his projects, murakamiflowers.kaikaikiki.com:
Normally, turning 60 can mean that you are in the last stage of your life, but as I said earlier, my works are designed so that their mechanism begins to work after my death. So that’s really the starting line for me.
I tried to recreate in the digital world a scene where the foot of Japan’s sacred mountain, Mount Fuji, would be in full bloom of cherry blossoms. I drew a delirious image of a future virtual space where, with MF [
]my various titles and business activities will be rebuilt in the digital world

A nebulous program for which Murakami, at the stage of many other Metavers projects, has many surprises in store for us.
